Shaking Minaretts

jhulta-minara

Known as “Jhoolataa Minaaraa” in colloquial language, these minaretts were built in 1430AD in Ahmedabad and is a fine exdample of superb architecture of erstwhile India. The two minaretts were interlinked and shook when either of the minaret was shaken. The construction was damaged by Britishers when they wanted to know about the mechanism of the shaking and in doing so they damaged these twins so badly that now we can just hear about the mechanism from the guides and know about it from history books 😦
